Reflection on a Gunshot
Reflection on a Gunshot
When reflecting upon the Iraq war, holy war, and large scale violence, the sense that came to me about these events was that they could be seen as fractalizations of many of the same smaller scale event: one person taking up a machine to kill another. There are always two sides: one acting out of an extreme impulse to do the right thing, which the recieving side clearly sees as extreme bad. In violence, we see extreme good and extreme bad, and it is the extreme that makes this act so intolerable. This image represents both forces at work: whether good or bad, the colors all run together, diminishing such an extreme act to just another sad event.
