The volcanos of Albuquerque are my favorite part of the pervasive landscape of the city. These volcanos dominate the western horizon from just about every vantage point within the city, and here they are painted in sunset. The painting makes use of tones and values to portray the heat and light of the atmosphere, as well as the story of the ancient volcanos: their eruption and erosion into the earth. Read more about my connection to the volcanos: Volcanos and the Christmas Spirit.
